Chongqing West Hospital (重庆西区医院) is a large, modern comprehensive teaching hospital built to national Grade-3A hospital standards and opened in January 2022 in the Jiulongpo District of western Chongqing. It was established with clinical teams drawn from across the Army Medical University hospital system, and offers a full range of departments organised around eight treatment centres, from cardiovascular and digestive care to neurology, orthopaedics and oncology radiotherapy.
Chongqing West Hospital was opened in 2022 with a clear brief: to bring Grade-3 hospital capacity to the western part of Chongqing, where residents previously had to travel across the city for complex care. The hospital is a social-capital institution built and managed to national Grade-3A comprehensive hospital standards, with 1,200 planned beds and more than 40 clinical and diagnostic departments.
The clinical team is its distinguishing feature: more than 200 physicians and specialists were recruited full-time from Army Medical University affiliated hospitals (including Southwest Hospital), giving the hospital senior leadership across cardiovascular, digestive, neurological, orthopaedic, respiratory and oncology services.
