About the Hospital

A New-Generation Comprehensive Hospital in Western Chongqing

Chongqing West Hospital was opened in 2022 with a clear brief: to bring Grade-3 hospital capacity to the western part of Chongqing, where residents previously had to travel across the city for complex care. The hospital is a social-capital institution built and managed to national Grade-3A comprehensive hospital standards, with 1,200 planned beds and more than 40 clinical and diagnostic departments.

The clinical team is its distinguishing feature: more than 200 physicians and specialists were recruited full-time from Army Medical University affiliated hospitals (including Southwest Hospital), giving the hospital senior leadership across cardiovascular, digestive, neurological, orthopaedic, respiratory and oncology services. For international patients, China Care can coordinate appointments, translation and on-the-ground support.

Chongqing West Hospital pairs the clinical depth of the Army Medical University system with the efficiency of a purpose-built modern hospital.
Why Patients Choose This Hospital

What makes this hospital relevant to international patients

AMU
A Clinical Team from the Army Medical University System

More than 200 specialists recruited full-time from AMU-affiliated hospitals — including former Southwest Hospital faculty — lead clinical departments, giving this young hospital senior experience across complex surgery, cardiovascular and neurological care.

8CT
Eight Integrated Treatment Centres

Services are organised around eight treatment centres — cardiovascular, digestive, neuro, urology-nephrology, respiratory & critical care, obstetrics-gynaecology-paediatrics, bone & trauma, and oncology radiotherapy — so patients with complex conditions are managed by coordinated multidisciplinary teams.

EQP
Modern Equipment in a New Facility

The hospital was built with current-generation equipment, including a 3.0T MRI and dual-source CT among 190+ advanced diagnostic systems, and reports a high share of level 3–4 (complex) procedures — useful context for patients weighing hospital options in western Chongqing.
